Grandma's Blanket

One of the highlights of the shower was opening the blanket that Grandma Angie made.  Unfortunately Grandma was not at my shower....but her gift was.  Here is the story....when I was about 7 years old I was watching my Grandma crochet a baby blanket.  I asked her if she would make my baby a blanket.  Her initial response was that she did make my baby doll a blanket.  I then said to her....no a blanket for when I get married and have a baby, can you make my baby a blanket.  Grandma then went out to the store and bought yarn and crocheted a blanket for my baby and KIMee's baby.  She put them in a box at the top of her closet marked with the date.....1986!  I am so glad that 24 years ago I asked Grandma for a blanket....so now Owen has a little piece of Grandma Angie!  A wonderful grandma and lady that he will unfortunately never meet.

Opening Grandma Angie's blanket for Owen....made in 1986!
While going through bags and boxes at home after the shower, I was taking Grandma's blanket out of the box.  I was about the throw away the tissue paper when a not fell from the paper and landed in my lap.  It was a hand written note from Grandma telling me the story of the blanket.  There I was all alone in Owen's nursery balling reading this note.  I am so glad that I found it, seeing as I almost threw it away.  I am going to take a picture of Owen with Grandma's blanket and put it in his scrapbook along with the note I found in the box.
